Web1st visit to Calshot Castle for a while which is situated right at the start of Southampton Water. There has been more historical displays added inside since my last visit. Really interesting history and building. The Castle closed for lunch on arrival once open had to wait for member of staff to appear who was out the back making a cup of tea. This one here was an artillery fort to defend the Solent and Southampton Water and was completed in 1540. You will find a large car park at the starting point.
