WebTemp hp is a cool mechanic, but in my experience forcing players to choose which temp hp source they use leads to increased table talk and miscommunication (like casting Heroism on the Spores druid), and also leads to some abilities being overshadowed at higher levels. I think it makes a lot more sense to let temp hp stack and reset on a long rest.

The real benefit is not the duration but that it happens whenever your kill someone.
